The Awakening of the Beetle - Center for Autistic Adults
-
A sensory environment: The architecture offers gentle sensory stimuli that generate pleasure and relaxation, where certain senses can be engaged separately or simultaneously, through visual and volumetric perception, natural light, chromotherapy, material textures, and acoustics.
-
A contemporary architectural approach: The building integrates medical needs with modern energy techniques (geothermal energy and solar panels), quality of life, and the family circle.
-
Breaking traditional codes: The project aims to break away from established norms to design a building that responds to the hypersensory and hypersensitive needs of individuals with pervasive developmental disorders (PDD).
-
A pilot building: The Awakening of the Beetle is designed as an experimental space where everything has been thought through to facilitate participation in therapeutic work, including security measures, tension reduction, and motivation for action and personal development.
This center is an innovative example of sensory and inclusive architecture, where aesthetics and comfort serve the specific needs of autistic individuals.
